There are two things Germany really hates: Hitler and Scientology. One being a very dark cloud looming over Germany’s past and the other being labeled “a dangerous cult” by German authorities. So when Tom Cruise wanted to shoot a movie about the plot to assassinate Hitler, he was met with a bit of resistance from the German government. But their hatred for Hitler won out of their hatred of Scientology, and they eventually relented. So on December 26, 2008, Valkyrie will be coming to theaters.

While we’re not going to rush out the day after Christmas to see it, from the trailer it looks pretty interesting.
