It’s weird to think that a show can have millions of avid fans and still be seen as a loser to the TV execs. While things that make our eyes bleed like “What I Like About You” or that Dawson’s River show (river, stream, creek, whatever) seemed to run on forever, here’s our countdown of shows that should still be on the air today.
|
6. Daybreak (13 Episodes)
Taye Diggs wakes up and every day is the same day. And we know what you’re thinking, yes Bill Murray already did that and they called it Groundhog Day…so it’s not a new idea…but like a good cover song (see: Ryan Adams Wonderwall), they took something old and made it their own. Because the day Taye had to relive is the day his girlfriend gets killed and he gets set up for it.
Why it should still be on the air: We liked tuning in each week to see Taye get a little closer…sure, this series couldn’t have lasted forever, but if Prison Break got 4 seasons, we’re pretty sure this could go on just as long. (And any show starring a guy with Digg in his name gets extra awesome points.) |
|
5. Committed (13 Episodes)
It’s the classic story of boy meets girl, boy gets girl, boy tries not to screw up so badly that girl leaves. Only in this story, the girl is insane and has a dying clown living in her closet. And the boy is a Ph.D.-having-super-nerd who comes from a family of people who all cross the thin line between genius and insanity, so he works in a record store. This show should have been called “When Crazy People Find Each Other.”
Why it should still be on the air: Did we mention she had a dying clown living in her closet? |
|
4. Off Centre (28 Episodes)
You take John Cho (from the Harold & Kumar movies) and put him in an apartment with Eddie Kaye Thomas (Finch from the American Pie movies) and Sean Maguire (Kyle from “The Class” - another show we wish didn’t get canceled). It was low-brow humor…but it was awesome low-brow humor.
Why it should still be on the air: John Cho is so funny, we peed a little. |
|
3. Jericho (29 Episodes)
Post-apocalyptic movies are awesome. We’re pretty big fans of the idea as a TV show as well (we even liked Showtime’s “Jeremiah” despite it starring Luke Perry). Someone sets nuclear bombs off all over the United States and the small town of Jericho tries to rebuild without any modern infrastructure and lots of looting.
Why it should still be on the air: The most loyal fan-base a show could have. When Jericho got canceled after its first season, the fans united. They started sending peanuts to the CBS building in New York…thousands of pounds every day…after 20 tons of nuts, CBS un-canceled the show and issued a press release saying “we’re pleased to announce the renewal of Jericho for a second season…please stop sending us nuts now.” Due to poor planning from CBS, season 2 debuted almost a year after the first season ended. Coupled with half the second season being leaked onto the Internet several months before they actually aired (and ratings that were never good to begin with), Jericho got canceled twice in less than a year. |
| 2. Arrested Development (53 Episodes)
Arrested Development should have joined shows like The Office and 30 Rock for being on a list of shows that were so funny they caused world peace to break out. But Arrested Development never found an audience. We can’t explain why Arrested Development was funny…either you already know or you need to add the entire series to the top of your Netflix queue right now. If you don’t fall off the couch laughing, you can go ahead and start hitting yourself in the head with a hammer, because you’ve got nothing up there.
Why it should still be on the air: There are two dominant theories to why Arrested Development was canceled. One is that the marketing done by Fox was so bad that they could have gotten more viewers if they had just spray painted “Arrested Development” on the side of a chicken and let it loose in Times Square. The other theory is that it was a smart show and there are just too many dumb people out there. All that we know for sure is that if you don’t think Arrested Development is funny, we will send someone to your house to fight you.

1. Firefly (14 Episodes)
There was a lot of debate about which show deserved the top spot, Arrested Development or Firefly, as they are both so awesome that we would gladly let the TV studios stab us in the face for another season of either. Created by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Firefly was one of the best sci-fi shows of all time. We liked Summer Glau so much that she’s about 89% of the reason we watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Sadly, Firefly came and went so quickly that we’re not really sure it was ever on TV at all
Why it should still be on the air: Firefly was so good that not only did they put out the entire series on DVD, but word spread so rapidly that every single copy sold out, every copy they had in warehouses sold out, and eventually some exec thought “hey, we should make a movie” and then “Serenity” got a theatrical release. TV shows that get canceled part of the way through their first season don’t get made into big-screen movies…it just doesn’t happen. Firefly broke the mold though and now we’re all hoping that the rumors of an Arrested Development movie are true as well.
Watch them now: Most of these shows are now on DVD. Do yourself a favor, sign up for a free Netflix trial and add these shows to the top of your queue. You can thank us later.

I was a big fan of Jericho and was among the many who were disappointed to see it canceled the first time. It was equally awful to see it happen again! Sometimes the network programmers or whoever decides these things are real pinheads.
September 24th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
good list. some shows i need to check out. but one missing i would have put neer the top maybe behind arrested development was…Freeks and Geeks. an awesome jud appatow project from the late 90’s early thousands.
September 24th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
What about the HBO series: Carnival. That was a badass show.
September 24th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
What about TimeTrax? “A cop from the future is sent back to contemporary times to track down fugitives hiding in the past.” IMBD It’s “The Fugitive” meets “Terminator”.
September 24th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Why isn’t Carnivale part of this listing?
September 24th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Futurama?
September 24th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Bravo on putting Firefly at #1. Although I strongly urge people to buy or rent it, it can be seen for free on hulu.com
That’s how I stumbled on the show. Then I bought the movie, I liked it so much!
September 24th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
You forgot about Sports Nite - It was really a great TV show that was never marketed right
September 24th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
FREAKS AND GEEKS!!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Firefly was awesome and canceled far too soon. It reminded me of a more accessible Cowboy Bebop.
Really missed Farscape on the list. Wish they hadn’t ruined it by canceling it then bringing back that terrible mini-series way too late.
September 24th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Yeah Firefly!!!!! Bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
Freaks and Geeks should be on this list!!
September 24th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
I’d like to add one to the list: Drive. I think a paltry three episodes aired on TV, while three more were shown on MySpace. Over the six episodes, I found myself wishing Fox hadn’t canceled it - the story was engrossing.
September 24th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Also Studio 60 was amazing…another Aaron Sorkin show, he did Sports Night (which should NOT have been canceled), West Wing, Charlie Wilson’s War and A Few Good Men.
September 24th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
The Black Donnellys…..great show half on nbc? half on the internet
September 24th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
Get A Life, with Chris Elliott.
September 24th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
This has been mentioned a thousand times but Heat Vision and Jack.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Definitely should have Freaks and Geeks on this list. If you like any movie with James Franco or with Seth Rogan, or a Judd Aptow production then you would enjoy that show.
September 24th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Scrubs?!?
September 24th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
wow, how can STELLA not be on this list?
September 24th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
You probably didnt watch or forgot about The Black Donnelly’s. However that is one show that should have never been canceled. Someone bring it back PLEASE!!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Undeclared
September 24th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Arrested Development & FireFly can be watched fullscreen in 480dpi on Hulu.com. For free. Maybe some of the others too.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
They never got around to the promised last season of Farscape either
September 24th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
freaks and geeks should have been number one! luckily, ten years later, most of the cast are getting the roles and recognition they deserve. but that show was flippin’ awesome, and i would gladly ‘take a knife to the face’ for another season.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
I second “Freaks and Geeks” and want to add “Wonderalls”.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
FREAKS AND GEEKS??!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
dude i totally agree Drive was great and it had Nathan fillion in it an he is kick ass. i also wish keen eddie had made this list.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Yes I am surprised that Freaks and Geeks wasn’t on the list, as well as canceled for that matter.
Some insight on Jericho: it was pretty much pulled due to a climate survey within the American government, it pressured the publishing company to shut it down because it was coming too close to home. Likewise 24 would be pulled countless times if it weren’t owned by Fox, which in turn owns half the world =P
September 24th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Journeyman Was one I hated to see go.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journeyman_(TV_series)
September 24th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
I second Journeyman.
September 24th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Committed was an amazing show. Jennifer Finnegan’s character was a woman that if you met in the real world it would either be “love at first sight” or “run for your life.”
Neurotic and sexy all at the same time. It made for great humor.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
what about “dead like me”?? love that show
September 24th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Twin Peaks?
Easily in the top 3, but i dont see it?
September 24th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Great list with the exception of Arrested Development. I liked it, but I think most people who like it seem to only like it because it’s the cool thing to do. If so many people liked it, there’s no reason for it not to be on the air.
The Middleman would have been a better choice at number 2.
September 24th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Joan of Arcadia - schmaltzy but lots of sincere sentiment. And they cancelled it just as they were rolling out the Satan character. BAH!
September 24th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
I agree with Committed and Firefly, got to say though I never saw one episode of the others. But what about John Doe(for broadcast television),.. with the dude from Prison Break,.. and then HBO with Carnivale and Deadwood,… I have given up relying on any network bringing me closure from any series. Hopefully JJ Abrams doesn’t disappoint with Lost or Fringe
September 24th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
WTF??? want a good show that should have never been canceled?? John Doe… and Keen Eddie those were two freaking amazing shows….
September 24th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip!
September 24th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Undeclared…Judd Apatow and Seth ….funny ass show ..canceled after 10 eps…
September 24th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Max Headroom!
September 24th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Wow! What the F.
I thought for sure Freaks and Geeks would make the top spot while scrolling down.
You need to check out your own netflix add.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Carnivale!!!
September 24th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
Dead Like Me. It was a great comedy on Showtime about five years back the NOBODY has ever heard heard of. I have shown it to at least 30 people and only 1 failed to love it.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
What about Invader Zim? granted it *is* a “cartoon” but it’s freaking HILARIOUS
September 24th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Glad to see Wonderfalls mentioned above. It was just starting to get good/crazy. Tru Calling was awesome as well.
September 24th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
FREAKS AND GEEKS
September 24th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
What? No Titus?
September 24th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Arrested Development is, arguably, the second greatest sitcom ever created. (The first being The Simpsons). It was brilliant in ways that is difficult to explain to someone who had never seen the show. It may be the first post-modernist sitcom. It worked on so many levels: Physical humour, check; meta-comedy, check; absurdist verging on surreal comedy, yep; family values, amazingly, yes; pitch black humor, yes; deft satire of American class, culture, you got it! And most of those things could be found in *one* scene! Here is a show that had setups and then delivered the punchlines to those setups *years* after the setup, and had the faith that the audience would get it (we did).
September 24th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Apart from arrested development, I dont think ive watched any of those (probably not really aired in australia, other than jericho). Carnivale was an absolutely awesome show, and i was devastated at its cancellation. also, Moonlight. I really liked it and thought it had heaps of potential, then i heard it was cancelled after series 1, and cancelled in aus halfway through series 1, despite its huge fanbase and popularity. ridiculous.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
I saw Serenity. It was teh suxXorz.
//slashies
September 24th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
The list is missing freaks and geeks.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
firefly was the best show ever, I’ve seen every ep at least 5 times and I still miss this show. I also thought Rome was really good.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
Dead Like Me left too soon.. Aside from that, I love Firefly & Freaks & Geeks.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
And here I thought you’d miss one. Good job!! Jericho, Firefly, and Daybreak are all on the money. Also “Love Monkey” was a really good show too — unfortunately the name was so illconceived, no one could figure out what it was about and never bothered to tune in. It ultimately hurt the series from going anywhere.
September 24th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
undeclared (follow up to Freaks & Geeks)
keen eddie.
What’s with Fox?????
September 25th, 2008 at 12:09 am
Deadwood — RIP
September 25th, 2008 at 12:20 am
deadwood.. end of story.
September 25th, 2008 at 12:48 am
Cop Rock! That show was tight.
September 25th, 2008 at 1:15 am
these four should be top of the list - so much potential:
:: Invasion
:: Surface
:: The 4400
:: Dresden Files
’nuff said.
September 25th, 2008 at 1:25 am
Another great show missing from the list is “Huff” starring Hank Azaria, it was a fantastic show filled with dark/adult humor, shame to see it go. Although second season did kinda suck a tiny bit.
September 25th, 2008 at 1:40 am
Undergrads, goshdarnit!
September 25th, 2008 at 2:03 am
Profit was a great show. It was all about the villain. Just watched the pilot and damn I wish it had at least a full season.
September 25th, 2008 at 2:17 am
Nice to see Day Break in here, I thought I was the only person on earth who was still mourning for it.
But I have to agree with some of the previous commenters; I think the real drama was to cancel Carnivale. And I’m not saying that only because I’m in love with Clea DuVall.
What a brilliant show it was!! And how sad is it that they had to sabotage the ending just so there was one…
September 25th, 2008 at 2:17 am
Committed was AWFUL. I really tried to like it, being insane myself. Just not as smart a comedy should be when one of the main chars is a genius.
Also, Undergrads …may not be worthy of the list, but funny ass cartoon that noones seen.
September 25th, 2008 at 2:34 am
Veronica Mars!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 25th, 2008 at 2:38 am
Agreed with most, but missing Freaks & Geeks, Carnivale, and Studio 60.
And, if John Cho is so funny, why has nobody mentioned Kitchen Confidential? Honestly, everyone here needs to go watch that show. Find it streaming somewhere. Absolutely amazing show. The plots were entertaining, the cast clicked, and most of it was fairly accurate to the food industry.
September 25th, 2008 at 2:45 am
Carnivale and Deadwood were both excellent shows that died on a bean counter’s desk.
September 25th, 2008 at 3:46 am
this list is total crap for not including THE WIRE!
September 25th, 2008 at 5:07 am
Surface. Ok, maybe i was the only one that saw it….
September 25th, 2008 at 5:40 am
Firefly and Arrested Development are great shows. The others on this list, no so much…
September 25th, 2008 at 6:36 am
The Powers That Be. A great show from the early 90s.
September 25th, 2008 at 7:25 am
Boomtown
The first season of Boomtown was arguably the best television I had ever seen. Well beyond the typical cop show, it forced the viewer to watch and think. This was just too much so they dumbed things down the second season and made it more cop show, less a thinking show. The third season they jumped the shark by adding Vanessa Williams, which I do not think completed the season.
Either find a way to download episodes of the first season or just get the DVD, and you will see what I am talking about - a strong show in all ways, unfortunately much too good for television.
September 25th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Freaks and Geeks fo sho….
and another from a long time ago, Tour of Duty… great show but can’t remember how many episodes
September 25th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Anyone who watched these shows, with the exception of Arrested Development, should be beaten and dragged through the mud…
September 25th, 2008 at 8:05 am
What about on HBO Carnivàle, they never finished the rest of the story.
The Agency, Boston Public, Painkiller Jane, Point Pleasant, Resident Life, Reunion, Vanished and Fear it was on MTV- paranormal investigation and sent to real locations to explore hauntings, I really enjoyed that show.
September 25th, 2008 at 8:13 am
Frank’s Place. One frickin’ season on CBS in 1987-88. Pioneered the half-hour “dramedy” format - less ha-ha-ha and more “oh, that’s really GOOD!” Explored race, class and prejudice better than any show before or since - if you get a chance, and good luck with that, see the episode with the “Paper Bag Test.” Still to this day hearing Louis Armstrong sing the show’s theme “Do You KNow What it Means to Miss New Orleans” makes me misty with regrets this show didn’t last longer.
September 25th, 2008 at 8:37 am
I think Twin Peaks has to be in Nº1 because it was a series that got so much praise during his run and then we got a 2nd season finale that let us all like WTF!!!
September 25th, 2008 at 8:56 am
Guys,
What about Standoff? That show was bloody brilliant.
Canceled after 18 episodes, sheesh! Someone should sack the idiot who made that decision.
September 25th, 2008 at 9:05 am
“The Black Donnellys” should be on this list. Fantastic show that only had something like 13 episodes.
September 25th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Sports Night. Sports Night. Sports Night. Sports Night. Sports Night. Sports Night.
Maybe Studio 60, but it didn’t look all that promising even though I have a lot of faith in Aaron Sorkin.
September 25th, 2008 at 10:04 am
great list! samurai jack needs to get added too…
September 25th, 2008 at 11:35 am
I liked the first season of Jericho, and was disappointed when it was canceled. Likewise, I was happy when it was renewed. However, the second season sucked. It was horrible. I was so disappointed in it, I wasn’t even upset when I heard it was canceled a second time. It deserved to be put down.
Firefly, on the other hand, absolutely never should have been canceled. Had Fox adequately marketed it, the show would have done fine. The show has garnered a huge following over the years, and Fox simply blew it.
September 25th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Journeyman!
September 25th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
Am I the only one who still wishes The Tick (the live action series) wasn’t canceled?
September 25th, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Dead Like Me, this show was amazing, when ShoTime changes CEO’s about 4-5 years back he canceled it because he didn’t like it BLAH…
September 25th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
How about Buffy and Angel. I’m still watching re-runs in the UK. Can’t get enough of them.
September 25th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
What, no “Chico and the Man”?
What, no “Just Our Luck?”
What, no “Best of the West”?
What, no “Working Stiffs”?
What, no “Misfits of Science”?
September 25th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
I’m with poster 67, Veronica Mars would have made the list for me. Good list though!
September 25th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
FIREFLY was screwed over by Fox
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT was great
Add:
FREAKS AND GEEKS
UNDECLARED
TWIN PEAKS
CARNIVALE
DEADWOOD
FUTURAMA (sorta continuin’ direct to DVD)
INVADER ZIM
FARSCAPE (sorta concluded with final movie)
Went on too long:
GET A LIFE (jumped the shark)
September 25th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
I am a huge fan of this list and the comment section with the exception of the idiots that are talking about shows that ended instead of being canceled like The Wire. We are not talking about closure like Sopranos (or lack there of) but when a show is just dropped off in the middle of the plot or on a cliffhanger. I have been pissed about a lot of these. Comedies really don’t bother me as much because there is no cliffhanger ending where I am wondering what comes next. I just would like to keep on laughing.
Here is my list (no particular order):
Freaks and Geeks
Drive
Jericho
Traveler
Undeclared
Firefly
Arrested Dev.
John from Cincinnati (only because I had no idea what was going on but still wanted to see how it finished)
Jericho
Glad they were canceled list:
Studio 60
Deadwood
John from Cincinnati (because it really did suck)
Angel
September 25th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Arrested Development has my vote!
September 25th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
Jericho has my first vote and Firefly has my second vote!
Gwen
http://www.jericho-kansas.com
September 25th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
I miss Journeyman. That should never got cancelled.
And am I the only one that like True Calling?
September 25th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Firefly was as close to perfect as a show could get. The only problem it had was Fox. Those guys must be true morons.
September 25th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Veronica Mars, end of story.
September 25th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Definitely Sports Night, which almost had a second life on Showtime….Alas, Aaron Sorkin was too busy with West Wing (also fabulous) to run both shows.
My other vote would be Nowhere Man (starring Bruce Greenwood; aired on UPN’s first season)…the best show that you’ve never seen!
September 25th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Dont forget WitchBlade. That was a great show.
September 25th, 2008 at 11:47 pm
Veronica Mars. Depressed because it was unexpectedly canceled, and i just finished with the last episode ever.
September 26th, 2008 at 12:17 am
you guys totally left off “Over There”
FX had a good one there.
September 26th, 2008 at 5:22 am
I miss “Invasion”, Fox carried it.
September 26th, 2008 at 7:07 am
Quarterlife! was taken off after only 1 episode, it was awesome :<
September 26th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
Dark Angel got cancelled because it got replaced by firefly which bombed big time. They should have left Dark Angel on air considering it did have an audience.
September 26th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
The two shows I most regret being canceled are Firefly (obviously) and Strange Luck.
September 26th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
VERONICA MARS
September 27th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
THE NEW SHOW CANE WAS GETTING VERY INTERESTING AND THEN THE WRITERS STRIKE
KILLED IT.
September 27th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
I have to agree with previous posters about Veronica Mars, Carnivale, Dark Angel even though it was trashy, Freaks and Geeks, and The 4400… ending on a cliff-hanger can really backfire. Not to mention of *course* Firefly, even though Serenity was definitely not as good.
One to add, though it’s unlike most of the shows on this list: Clone High. An unexpectedly clever cartoon that barely got half a season. Such a shame.
September 27th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
Holy crap! TV sucks so bad. I’m so glad that I don’t give a rip about these shows. All of these shows should have been canceled and replaced with episodes of the Ultimate Fighter from Spike TV. Have the same show air on every station all at once.
September 27th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
What About Six Feet Under
Great show!
September 28th, 2008 at 8:47 am
how about Dead like me and Veronica Mars?
September 28th, 2008 at 8:52 am
I see I’m not the only one who would like Veronica Mars and Dead like me back
September 28th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Agreed:
Firefly
Arrested Development
Freaks and Geeks
Sports Night
Wonderfalls
Dead Like Me
(keeping my fingers crossed for Eureka, Pushing Daisies, and 30 Rock–all have elements of the above shows, and I hope they get their dues!)
September 28th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
- Firefly because it was the best show ever (after Star Trek)
- Veronica Mars because is was just awesome
- Why hasn’t anybody thought of Odyssey 5? That was one of the smartest shows ever with a very cool twist on time travel. Also it had the worst ending in history :S
September 28th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Yeah Committed was so cool!!
I really liked it U.U
And still, we have those crappy shows… Why?!!
September 28th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Andy Richter Controls the Universe
It is an utter travesty this show was canceled.
September 29th, 2008 at 4:13 am
everyone saying freaks and geeks should reconsider, yes it was a shame that it got cancelled, but it’s such a better ending to the show, the way it is. i would’ve hated to have seen the network take over this show, britney spears guest staring FTL.

Arrested Development was genius. It’s such a shame that it was canceled. It’s my favorite show of all time.. great writing, great casting, and great acting.

Dead like Me (showtime), Carnival (hbo), Parker Louis can’t lose, and Keen Eaddie. All great shows canceled before their time

What about that caveman show? Fantastic writing.
October 5th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
They are making an Arrested Development Movie with all the same people based on the show.

Good call–Firefly, without a doubt, belongs at #1. Journeyman and Carnivale should be on the list somewhere. And after 13 years, I’m still mourning My So-Called Life.

October 7th, 2008 at 10:55 am

Las Vegas was canceled right when me and my wife started to enjoy it!
October 8th, 2008 at 12:57 am
Hell yea, right on about #1 and #2

It rarely fails - if I really get hooked on a show, it gets canceled. Wow, so far Eureka is still here! But let’s face it, none of these are reality shows and most require some fair degree of intelligence to appreciate them.
My votes go to:
Studio 60
The 4400
Jericho

arrested development was one of my favorite shows that never should have been canceled.

Hey! No love for “Boston Public” or “LAX”
October 8th, 2008 at 9:36 am
What about Two Guys And A Girl, I really liked that. Still watch it here in the UK.

The Black Donellys, Journeyman and Raines being canceled all disgust me to no end also. Hard as it may be to believe, I, a big TV watcher haven’t heard of the first three shows you mentioned! They give up on good shows too easily, now. If it’s not a Grey’s Anatomy first season hit, it’s squashed. I hate that.

WONDERFALLS!!!
Arrested Development
Freaks and Geeks
Undeclared
Grounded for Life

Arrested Developement was the FUNNIEST show ever made. The jokes were probably too intelligent for some people but it’s still such a shame it ended. Every single thing about that show is perfect.
October 15th, 2008 at 5:27 am
New Amsterdam
October 15th, 2008 at 7:10 am
I think that the best show ever to be canceled was Reunion. It was on for less than a season, but I wish it would have caught on. Does anyone remember it.
October 16th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
I agree with this list though I haven’t seen all of them. Firefly definitely deserves the top of the list, Arrested Development is great, but I’d like to make an addition:
Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place.
October 17th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Two words: “Cop Rock”
October 19th, 2008 at 10:29 pm
I miss Arrested Development. There is a hole in my heart where new episodes should be…

October 26th, 2008 at 2:03 am
I love the top three and was pissed off as hell when they canceled Jericho seen for the SECOND time. Haven’t seen Committed or Daybreak though.
November 18th, 2008 at 3:41 pm
Carnivale should be on the list.
Not only was it amazing, but the way it ended made you desperate for a third season.
And Deadwood is another one.

Arrested Development not only shouldn’t have been canceled but it should still be on TV and a full length feature film. Arrested Development Movie 2009!
