Summer is over…that means the Summer blockbusters are gone and you had to go back to school (boo!) or your kids had to go back to school (yay!). But while The Dark Knight has come and gone, there are still some movies coming out this Fall that look awesome.
Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist (October 3rd)
Micheal Cera is comic gold. So when you put him opposite Kat Dennings in a comedy about a boy two straight-laced kids who stop playing by the rules, we’ll be sitting in the front row with popcorn we brought from home, smuggled under our shirts like fake baby humps.
Rachel Getting Married (October 3rd)
“When Kym (Anne Hathaway), an ex-model who has been in and out from rehab for the past 10 years, returns home for the wedding of her sister Rachel (Rosemarie DeWitt), she brings a long history of personal crisis and family conflict along with her.” We love Anne Hathaway…she’s adorable. But she always plays someone whose personality is just as adorable. Now we get to see her acting like Steve Buscemi from The Wedding Singer…it’s almost too great to resist.
City of Ember (October 8th)
Hollywood recycles ideas like Al Gore recycles his tofu pencils…but every once in a while, Hollywood comes up with something new. We’re hoping that’s the case with City of Ember. Ember is an underground city that’s heated and illuminated by lightbulbs that are starting to fail. With Bill Murray heading up the cast of this intriguing sci-fi flick, we’re pretty excited that this just might not suck.
Body of Lies (October 10th)
A CIA operative (Leonardo DiCaprio) is sent to Jordan by his boss (Russell Crowe)to find a high-ranking terrorist. While in Jordan, the operative forms an uneasy alliance with the head of Jordan’s covert operations. Let’s sum this up: DiCaprio + Crowe + terrorists = Awesome.
Pride and Glory (October 24th)
Ray Tierney (Edward Norton) is a New York City police officer investigating the murder of several of his fellow NYPD officers. His brother-in-law (Colin Farrell) is at the center of an investigation that is fueled more by vengeance than it is for justice. This could turn out to be another boring police corruption movie (Assault on Precinct 13, Street Kings), or it could just be the best thing to happen to movies since Sylvester Stallone beat down all of communist Russia in Rocky IV.
Nobel Son (November 7th)
Alan Rickman plays Eli Michaelson, a Nobel Laureate and an absolute narcissist whose son gets kidnapped and held for a ransom of $2 million (the amount he was awarded for winning the Nobel prize). Michaelson, however, decides not to pay, starting the tale of family dysfunction that (almost) makes your family look normal. Also starring Mary Steenburgen, Bill Pullman, Eliza Dushku, Danny DeVito, Ted Danson, and Ernie Hudson, Nobel Son looks like a movie that’s fun for the whole family (at least…if your family hates each other).
Hollywood isn’t original on City of Ember. It’s based off of a young adult novel. Though I hear the book is pretty good, so the movie may still be worth it.

You can always trust NothingCorporate to know what’s good at the cinema. Glad I’m not the only one looking forward to Nobel Son!

Curious Case of Benjamin Button is my Must See, and my preemptive Best Picture pick.
